Getting Started

Can I try ShortStack for free?
Yes! Build popups, forms, sweepstakes, and more. Explore the platform at your own pace with up to 500 campaign views per month, and upgrade whenever you're ready.
What counts as a "monthly campaign view"?
A campaign view is counted each time someone loads one of your actual campaign pages — not every time an embed code loads on your website. That's an important difference. Some competitors count every page load where their code appears, which can add up fast. With ShortStack, you're only charged when someone actually sees your campaign. Your view count resets at the start of each billing period, and if you go over your limit, overage rates are based on your plan.
What's the difference between annual and monthly billing?
Annual billing saves you 2 months over the monthly plan. You pay upfront for the year and your rate is locked in. Monthly billing is flexible with no long-term commitment.
Do you offer discounts for non-profits?
Yes. 501(c)(3) non-profits are eligible for a 50% discount. Contact us with your organization's details to apply.
What happens when free users exceed their campaign view limit?
When free users reach their monthly campaign view limit, campaigns may display a more prominent ShortStack advertisement overlay and form submissions may return an error message. You'll see an in-app notification. To remove these restrictions, upgrade to a paid plan.

Billing & Overages

When will I be charged for excess campaign views?
You'll be charged at the end of your billing period. Excess views are billed in units of 10,000, rounded up. For annual plans, you'll receive separate monthly invoices for any overages throughout the year. We'll send you alerts before you reach your allowance, when you reach it, and when you exceed it.
When will I be charged for excess stored entries?
You'll be charged at the end of your billing period if you exceed your plan's stored entry allowance. Excess entries are billed in units of 1,000, rounded up. You can delete excess stored entries before the end of your billing period to avoid overage charges.
Do campaign view allowances roll over?
No. Allowances do not roll over between billing periods. Each period starts fresh with your full monthly allowance.
How do annual plans work with monthly usage?
Annual plans include the same monthly campaign view allowance as monthly plans. You pay for the base subscription annually, upfront. Campaign view usage is still measured and billed monthly — if you exceed your monthly allowance, you'll receive a separate invoice for that month's overages. Annual plans do not pool usage across the year; each month has its own allowance.
Will I get warnings before being charged for overages?
Yes. We'll send you alerts before you reach your allowance, when you reach your allowance, and when you exceed your allowance. At that point, you can choose to upgrade to a higher tier or continue with overage charges.

Plan Changes

Can I switch plans or cancel at any time?
Absolutely. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time. If you switch to a lower plan, the change takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
What happens if I upgrade my plan?
Upgrades take effect immediately. Your new plan starts right away, your billing period resets, and usage counters start fresh. You won't be charged for any overages from before the upgrade. We prorate your old plan and charge for the new plan immediately.
What happens if I downgrade my plan?
Downgrades take effect at your next renewal date — not immediately. You keep your current plan's allowance and features until renewal. Any overages you incur during this period will still be billed. Downgrades are only available if you're under the new plan's stored entry allowance.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
Your subscription will end at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access until the period ends and your campaigns stay active during this time. Campaign views continue to count, and any overages will be billed at period end. No renewal charge occurs after cancellation.
